# Database

Monitor the databases your services depend on — query performance, locks, replication and resource health — next to the traces that call them. Self-hosted engines are collected by the Middleware agent; managed cloud databases connect through the provider's API.

**New to database monitoring? Start with these three.** About 10 minutes per database.

1. **Pick your database** — Self-hosted, managed PostgreSQL, NoSQL or search
2. **Connect it** — The agent reaches self-hosted engines; managed databases use an API key
3. **Read it in Database Monitoring** — Query performance appears next to the traces that ran it

## All database integrations

Grouped by the kind of database. Each card says whether it connects by API or runs through the Middleware agent.

- [PostgreSQL](/integrations/postgresql-integration) — Query performance, replication lag, locks and connection pool state. (Relational, Agent)
- [MySQL](/integrations/mysql-integration) — Slow query digests, InnoDB buffer health and replica status. (Relational, Agent)
- [Oracle](/integrations/oracledb-integration) — Wait events, tablespace usage and session-level activity. (Relational, Agent)
- [SQL Server](/integrations/sql-server-integration) — Wait statistics, deadlocks, buffer cache and plan cache behaviour. (Relational, Agent)
- [SAP HANA](/integrations/saphana-integration) — Memory and CPU per service, plus expensive statement tracking. (Relational, Agent)
- [AWS RDS PostgreSQL](/integrations/aws-rds-integration) — Enhanced Monitoring metrics correlated with query-level detail. (Managed PostgreSQL, API)
- [Azure Database for PostgreSQL](/integrations/azure-managed-postgresql) — Flexible Server metrics without installing anything on the host. (Managed PostgreSQL, API)
- [GCP Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL](/integrations/gcp-cloudsql-postgresql) — Cloud SQL instance metrics joined to the traces that query them. (Managed PostgreSQL, API)
- [MongoDB](/integrations/mongodb-integration) — Operation counters, replica set health and index hit ratios. (NoSQL, Agent)
- [MongoDB Atlas](/integrations/mongodb-atlas-integration) — Cluster metrics pulled from the Atlas Admin API, no agent required. (NoSQL, API)
- [Redis](/integrations/redis-integration) — Command latency, keyspace hit rate, evictions and memory fragmentation. (NoSQL, Agent)
- [Cassandra](/integrations/cassandra-integration) — Read and write latency per keyspace, compaction and hint backlog. (NoSQL, Agent)
- [Elasticsearch](/integrations/elasticsearch-integration) — Cluster and index health, search and indexing latency, JVM pressure. (Search & analytics, Agent)
- [ClickHouse](/integrations/clickhouse-integration) — Query throughput, merge activity and part counts per table. (Search & analytics, Agent)

> **Database not listed?** If it exposes Prometheus metrics it can be scraped through the [Prometheus integration](/integrations/prometheus-integration). If not, [tell us what you are running](https://middleware.io/contact-us/) — requests are triaged weekly.

## Frequently asked questions

Asked before installing any database integration.

#### What are the prerequisites for installing integrations?

Prerequisites vary by integration type, but across all integrations you are required to have Admin level permissions to install a new integration. Consult the specific integration documentation for details regarding third party integration permissions.

#### How do I configure my Middleware account for integrations?

Check the status of your account permissions in the [Profile](/features/accounts) section of your account. If you do not have Admin level permissions, contact your system administrator to change them.
